I write about her a lot, I know, but she is just that great. She has been having SUCH a great year in Kindergarten. She loves her school, loves her friends, and thinks her teacher walks on water. Her bus driver calls her 'Sunshine' because she lights up the bus every day. She is trying new things, learning more every day, and just bringing happiness to everyone around her.
Mairead's Kindergarten puts on an annual 'Mother's Day Tea' event that is just adorable. The kids and teachers practice for weeks to put together a musical program, and the moms are invited in for (iced) tea and cookies. Everyone gets dressed up and it's really a memorable afternoon. Mairead was SO excited for me to go to her school! At the tea, the teacher went around to say hello to all of the moms and made a point to share how proud of Mairead she is. She said, "At the beginning of the year, I just didn't know how we were going to do it, but now, she has just blossomed!" Of course, I couldn't even reply because I was choked up. Finishing Kindergarten on time will be a big moment for her, and for us!
This is Mairead's new friend, "Tigey." For about 10 days, she kept telling us that we were going to have 'Tiger Day' and go get a stuffed tiger, and it would be so exciting. No idea where she came up with that, but, she couldn't wait. So, Dave took her shopping and found the perfect new friend. Mairead likes to dress Tigey, put her to bed, feed her, and change her. She is still not interested in dolls, but she does play pretend with her stuffed animals. It's very sweet and she is a very good little 'mom.' She has told me that she is going to be a mom when she grows up. She is going to have four babies. All at the same time.
Lately, she has been commandeering my Kindle to use some of the educational apps we have put on there for her. She is getting great at apps that work on telling time, categorizing, and making decisions about daily routines. She is also great at downloading apps without asking first, so I had to put a stop to that.
Last week, the weather was very hot (97 degrees on June 1!) and Mairead was able to get into the pool. The pool was NOT very hot, but she did not care. She would stay in there until her lips were blue and her teeth were chattering if I let her. She just loves to be in the water!
We are all looking forward to summer when we can all spend so much time together!
