Merry Christmas to you all

The next two days are bound to be hectic, so I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas! We are so blessed and plan to enjoy every second of the next few days. We can't wait to see our kids wide eyed at a visit from Santa tomorrow night or at the presents under the tree on Saturday morning. We hope that they love being surrounded by family and friends for the next two days and that they always know that the people around them are the true gifts.


I am always emotional at Christmas, but usually in a good way. I think that the beauty of it and the kindness you see in people just touches me. Like, when you hear about homeless children writing to Santa and asking for a gift for their moms, or locally there is a couple who recently found out that they cannot have children so they made a huge dontation to Toys for Tots to help the children that don't have a Christmas gift.

Watching Mairead look at Christmas trees, lights, etc, with wonder is just so beautiful to me that I just can't help but tear up. Seeing my three kids sitting under the tree or eating gingerbread man cookies together... all those simple moments that make up a life are just so much more poignant this time of year.

The sad parts are there, too... we all think about the people we wish we could share these times with. We realize that we have so much in our lives but we wish we could share our children and our joy with those we have lost, and it's hard when we can't.

I think that all of us are touched by the emotions that come with this time of year, and I hope that everyone has a moment to stop and just breathe in the wonder of the season. Merry Christmas, everyone!
