This weekend, we celebrated Maghan's first Mother's Day. We had a great time and the day was very special, as I think there is no greater accomplishment than being a Mom. And, there is no greater privilege, either. Every day, I think about how lucky I am to have this little girl in my life, and how lucky she is to be loved by so many people. Thanks to everyone who made Mother's Day special, and to all the Moms, grandmothers, aunts, and friends in Mairead's life who love her and look after her. She truly is a gift.
We took a few pictures last week so that we would have some new shots for Mother's Day. She had a great time playing out in the yard and looking up at the trees. She loved walking around with her Dad!
Up in Lowell, Maghan and Dave actually went to a real restaurant for dinner! Thanks to Janice for the gift certificate, and to Nana and Grampy for the babysitting! Mairead just hung out in her Garnett jersey (although it didn't work for us on Saturday) and played with the new book her Grampy brought her from Las Vegas.
On Sunday, we had a great time with everyone, but Mairead did not want to take a nap. As you can tell from this next picture, she was pretty exhausted and was having a very bad hair day. See, she does cry once in a while!
Mairead and her dad gave Maghan a very special Mother's Day gift-- this pearl ring! Mairead's name means 'pearl' in Gaelic, so this was perfect. I love it!
Also in Lowell, Mairead spent a good amount of time trying to get to the fireplace. She LOVES the fire and looks for it every time we go to Lowell. I think she misses it now that it is too warm to have it on. She needs to learn, though, that it is hot! So we tell her 'no, hot!' every time she goes near it. She doesn't seem to heed that warning, though.
Then, Mairead tried on the nurse's cap that belongs to her new bear friend. Maybe she'll be a nurse like her Nana! Really, I think she just likes hats, like her aunt, Katie.
Mairead's favorite part of the whole weekend was that she got to eat cookies! You moms know about the Gerber Zwieback cookies that babies LOVE but that get all over everything. She was a mess and she couldn't have been happier!
