As most of you know, Mairead underwent minor surgery today to correct the tongue tie that she was born with. She was such a great patient. She even held the oxygen mask herself! While we were in pre-op she was making friends with the nurses and doctors, and didn't complain at all, despite the fact that she could not eat this morning. When she came out of the anesthesia, she was not too happy, that's for sure. But after a popsicle and a bottle, she was back to smiling at everyone.
The surgery should completely correct the problem and she should not have any trouble with her speech or with eating solid food, so we are thankful for that. She is such a brave and strong little girl-- she has already been in hospitals too much in her little life, so I hope this is it for a very long time!
Thanks to everyone who was so supportive the past few days. Obviously, Dave and I were very anxious about the anesthesia and about her going back to the hospital. But she was great! We are so lucky to have such a happy and healthy child!

I didn't know she was having surgery! She is such a trooper! I'll call you this weekend to check in. Good job Mairead, we are proud of you!
I didn't know she was having surgery!!! Family is always the last to know! Well, we are glad to hear that things went well and Mairead handled it like a tropper. It must have been very difficult for you and Dave - I pray she doesn't have to EVER go under again!
